I’ve been toying around with different ideas about what to do with my mixtape catalog for a couple years now. No one is buying mixtapes, so why bother trying to sell them. And fewer and fewer people even have CD players, much less cassette decks, so why give them away. But I’m still very proud of them, so why let them collect dust in a box or on a harddrive. How about giving them all away… There’s a good idea!
I’ve uploaded every mixtape I could put my hands on to Mixcloud for streaming, as well as including a download link in the description for each. Go nuts, tell a friend, and don’t hesitate to share the links!
Category: MixesI’ve been a fan of Dallas’ A.Dd+ since DJ Sober put me on to them at SXSW 2 years ago. We stayed in touch about what they’ve had going on and I was geeked when they reached out about doing a remix of one of their tracks. These dudes are dumb talented, grind hard, consistently put out good music, and have a great live show! (If they’re in your town, GO SEE THEM.)
Thanks to Sober for making the connect (and killing the art!) and to Rosalinda for making it all happen.

Category: Friends & Family, Various and SundryWe’ve been celebrating The Rub’s 10 Year Anniversary all summer and it’s finally time for the big “home field advantage” party. We’re joined by the one and only Just Blaze and Saskatoon’s Mike The Gaff and we’re GEEKED!
If you’re coming to party with us, come EARLY. Doors open at 10PM, but you should be there at 9:30. It will be nuts!
And, here’s a little mix to get you in the mood:
Category: The Rub, The Rub RadioDJ Eleven feat. Sharina Doyle by 11InchRecords
Hot off the presses, a brand new DJ Eleven release featuring up-and-coming soul singer Sharina Doyle. Check it on Soundcloud and buy it at Beatport, Juno, iTunes, and Amazon.
Category: UncategorizedI’ll let the good folks from Aritzia tell it: “We were obviously thrilled when DJ Eleven pitched us on putting together a mix of the best female MC talent called Ladies First. But when the finished mix surpassed our expectations as we listened to a seamless blend of back to back gems classic and new, we wondered how we ever lived without this mix in our music library?! Enjoy Ladies!”

For the final year that APT (the legendary NYC nightspot) was open, Moma & I held down second Fridays for our monthly party, Special Delivery. Very quickly, it became one of the high points of my month, along with The Rub. Days before our 1 year anniversary in 2010, APT was shut down for good. In the past 2 and a half years, we’ve done Special Delivery as one-offs, but were always holding out for the right venue to get it up and running right. We finally found it!
Join us Thursday, June 28th as we jump-off the all new weekly Special Delivery at Viktor & Spoils!
Fridays mornings are about to get rough again.
Category: FAM, Various and SundryIn preparation for this Saturday’s Summer of The Rub party, Ayres & I put together a mix of 60′s & 70′s rock and soul to get everyone in the mood. (Tracklist after the jump.) Our buddies at Fool’s Gold Records are hosting it as the most recent episode of their Foolcast series. Click on the cover art or head to Fool’s Gold to download it.
And join us this Saturday, June 23rd as we begin the celebration of 10 Years of The Rub at Dekalb Market. It’s all ages, FREE, and we’ll be getting down with two of our favorite DJs, Neil Armstrong & Rich Medina, from 4PM-10PM. See you Saturday!

Ayres & I will be celebrating 10 Years of The Rub all summer long but could think of no better way to jump it off than with a free daytime all-ages party at Dekalb Market with two of our favorites: Neil Armstrong & Rich Medina. We’ll also be celebrating Neil’s birthday, so come early, drink beer, dance, get sunburnt, and stumble out late!
We’re dusting off our khakis & Chucks for the launch of this summer’s Str8 West Coastin’ series on this Saturday, June 16th. In addition to ringing in Jessica from co-sign and Michelle from Audible Treats’ birthdays, we’re also celebrating the bornday of the one Tupac Shakur. For such a momentous occasion, we had to go big and get fellow Cali
transplant J. Period to come through and join us. Check the flyer for details and the mix to get you in the mood.
The homie Señor Kaos and I just dropped our update of Jeru The Damaja’s “Da Bichez”. In no way meant to disrespect women, we wanted to pay homage to Jeru and DJ Premier’s classic. Now 18 years after its release, Kaos and I re-visited and revamped it. This is the first track off Kaos’ EP, “Mama Said The Sun Rises In The Resurrection”, coming July 3rd, 2012
