For the final year that APT (the legendary NYC nightspot) was open, Moma & I held down second Fridays for our monthly party, Special Delivery. Very quickly, it became one of the high points of my month, along with The Rub. Days before our 1 year anniversary in 2010, APT was shut down for good. In the past 2 and a half years, we’ve done Special Delivery as one-offs, but were always holding out for the right venue to get it up and running right. We finally found it!
Join us Thursday, June 28th as we jump-off the all new weekly Special Delivery at Viktor & Spoils!
Fridays mornings are about to get rough again.
Our little FAM party is turning three on Thursday, May 31st. Come out and help me, Lindsey, Myles, and Sure Shot celebrate 150 Fridays that started a little fuzzier than they should’ve. As always, we’ll be in the basement at Von (3 Bleecker Streetbetween Bowery & Lafayette) from 9PM-3AM.
We’re celebrating the release of Mike Baker The Bike Maker’s new album at FAM (at Von – 3 Bleecker Street at Bowery) on Oct 27th. Come through at 9PM to hear the album, stay all night to party. DJ Tara will be joining us for a guest set and Dee Phunk will be hosting the fun.
This Thursday, June 23rd, myself, Lindsey, Myles and Sure Shot are celebrating the 2nd Anniversary of our little FAM party. We’ll be commemorating the occasion with a night full of the finest R&B ever recorded. (If you didn’t make it to our Holiday R&B party, let me just tell you… You do not want to miss it!) You can catch us in the basement of Von – 3 Bleecker Street btwn Bowery & Lafayette – from 9PM until the slow jams end at 3AM.
This Thursday the FAM fam-a-lam will be throwing a special all R&B edition for the holiday party season. Come on down to the basement of Von (3 Bleecker Street btwn Bowery & Lafayette) from 9PM on and be ready to do some singing along to all of your favorite R&B jams.
And, if you missed our little FAM mix, you can grab it over here
Tomorrow morning I head back to the airport for another round of out-of-town gigs. (Seattle, Vancouver & Boston – I’m coming for you!) Head on over to the events page to check out all the details, flyers, and all that stuff. Pictures & stories to follow next week.
New Yorkers – make sure to check Myles & Lindsey at FAM on Thursday, with Jack Davey from J*Davey on the guest spot.
Sure Shot, Lindsey, Myles & myself just finished up a little mix to spread the FAM musical vibes. Check the full tracklist after the jump & check us every Thursday at Von (3 Bleecker Street btwn Bowery & Lafayette in the basement).
With the old press page in permanent Han Solo-esque deep freeze, here’s some new press:
New York Magazine recognized our little FAM party as one of THE parties to check out in the city. Thanks guys! http://nymag.com/nightlife/wheretodrink/2010/dance-parties/
One friend in particular at The Village Voice had this to say about one Thursday in particular: http://blogs.villagevoice.com/music/archives/2010/04/thursday_night.php
The good folks at one of the internet’s best named blogs added my Devin mix to their interview with the man himself. Check it out at http://nerdtorious.com/2010/05/14/duderonomy-devin-the-dude-qa-dj-eleven-mix/
Shouts to the folks from Themes for Young Lovers for having me contribute a set of silly answers to some questions. (Plus I got to put this ridiculous photo to good use!) You can check out my blah blah blah at ThemesForYoungLovers.blogspot.com
The crack commando squad at Suite 903 called up The Rub dudes and asked us to come through & wax poetical about what we do, soul music, and all kinds of other good stuff. You can check it out here: www.suite903.com/2010/03/31/video-interview-with-the-rub-djs/#more-5378
New York Magazine shouted out The Rub’s History of Hip Hop (HOHH) series. (While mistakenly giving Ayres all the credit. Bastards!) http://nymag.com/daily/entertainment/2010/07/download_rap_highlights_from_e.html
The good folks at Letsmix.com let us ramble a little bit about HOHH
