On Dec 14th of 2010, 11 Inch records will be letting Matty C’s awesome Action EP fly. In preperation, the Van City O.G. put together a mix filled with the EP’s gems, plus some other goodies from the 11 Inch vaults, to highlight what it is. Suffice it to say, this sh-t is f-cking good!
Grab it at Matty’s soundcloud: http://soundcloud.com/dj_matty_c/11-inch-promo-mix
Tomorrow morning I head back to the airport for another round of out-of-town gigs. (Seattle, Vancouver & Boston – I’m coming for you!) Head on over to the events page to check out all the details, flyers, and all that stuff. Pictures & stories to follow next week.
New Yorkers – make sure to check Myles & Lindsey at FAM on Thursday, with Jack Davey from J*Davey on the guest spot.
The homies Keys N Krates let loose on this mix a couple weeks ago. Go grab it NOW!
The good homie, Rob Pursey, just killed another mix of some of my favorite jams. I’ll let him explain: “Here’s just a little mix I did of those bedroom bangers that ruled our world in a different time and place – the 90s – and something for the ladies and the sensitive thugs out there to relate to. Mixed live as always, this is all about some downtempo business from the greatest RnB artists of the decade. Simple.
Enjoy!”

Tracklist & more after the jump
The Beatnuts “Give Me The Ass” has always been one of my favorites of their many ignorant gems. (“I wanna fuck, drink beer & smoke some shit” anyone?) I always wanted to repurpose the vocals but it wasn’t until a gazillion nu disco joints popped up in the last couple years that I could find anything which started to click. I’m not sure where exactly anyone will ever get a chance to play this, certainly not if there’s a woman within earshot. But, fuck it.
If you wanna see some cash… you know the rest.

For the first time in years, I actually bothered to take a camera with me on my European trip and it reminded me how much I like taking pictures! Hit the jump for a bunch more.
this is what being on tour actually feels like
The homies over at Turntable Lab have unleashed the third volume of their Secret Hangout series, which includes my remix of DJ Center’s “In A Song” for free downloading. Center’s album is titled “Everything In Time” and is full of gems. But, from the first listen, “In A Song” was my joint! I begged Center for the acapella & he was gracious enough to let me take a crack at remixing it. But right in the middle of working on it, my grandmother passed away. So in the two weeks that I was hiding from the world & waiting to get the word about when the memorial service would be, I buried my head in this remix. Everytime I listen now, I think about my grandmother & what an incredible person she was. For that, I’m forever in Center’s debt.
You can grab it for free, along with joints from Flying Lotus, Rusko, Gold Panda, Chico Mann, Gaslamp Killer and Nick Catchdubs over here
This is the last of the joints that are left-over from the abandoned rock project which keeps coming up in these posts. It’s one of the hardest for me to listen to for a couple reasons: 1) I love Masta Ace’s “Slaughterhouse” a lot! 2) I don’t have much love for Queens of the Stone Age at all. In the end, I don’t think this joint deserves the trash bin. But, as always, you’ll be the judge of that.
